Damian Sofsian asked:

Red Sox fans have already bought more than two million tickets for the upcoming 2006 home schedule at “America’s Most Beloved Ballpark”, Fenway Park, and Boston is well on its way to break last year’s record-setting ticket sales. There are many other examples of rising ticket sales in baseball, and now, with the advent of the World Baseball Classic, baseball ticket sales should see another rise in popularity.

Red Sox reportedly sold 2,135,540 tickets through the 28-29 January weekend, when tickets for most single games went on sale. Through the same dates in 2005, 2,079,909 tickets were sold out. The club hopes to sell more than 2.8 million tickets in 2006, which means several hundred thousand tickets are still available for sale for most games.

Red Sox fans have sold out 226 consecutive regular-season games, the second-longest streak in Major League Baseball history. The team sold a record 2,847,888 tickets in 2005. The club has also established attendance records each of the past six seasons.

Sales for full season tickets to Nationals games in 2005 came to 15,000 requests. Deposits for nearly 15,000 full season packages were accepted for the 2005 season, to be played out at the RFK Stadium in Washington D.C.

Using an average ticket price of $22 ($1,682.00) for a full season package, the projected income generated would be $26,730,000. Partial packages went on sale on January 1, 2005, after the seating assignments for full package sales were completed.

The Baltimore Orioles average 30,302 ticket sales per game, placing them at number eleven of thirty teams in Major League Baseball.

Charles Neshah asked:

If you are unaware of Internet satellite television, be informed that you too can enjoy all the benefits of Internet television with new amazing software that puts the world of satellite television at your fingertips.

Essentially, satellite television operates through communication satellites that deliver television shows all over the world. This is why it is called satellite television, different and superior in both output and scope from cable television, because it is not limited and reliant on “terrestrial signals.”

Cable television as an upgrade on the traditional terrestrial television stations brought with it more stations, sound and picture quality, was about 1962 upstaged by satellite television which was transmitted across a wide expanse of earth because geostationary satellites beamed signals from space, about 22,300 miles over the earth’s equator enabling people to watch satellite television even in very remote places.

Aside from a wide coverage by satellite, it brought about a wide choice of TV stations you can watch, hundreds of them with improved sound and picture quality. The downside was that monthly subscription fee for satellite television access is more expensive than the monthly subscription fee for a cable television access.

Then Bang! Internet television software was invented making it possible for you to watch over 3000 satellite television stations and channels on your PC or Laptop free, with better reception signals that allow you to watch satellite television both indoors and outdoors wherever you have internet connection.

Beware sure that you download internet television software from a credible site by seeking expert recommendation.

PostHeaderIcon Why Did Boxing Leave The News?

Knut Ofstbo asked:

What happens in the world of boxing.

As I do happen to have an extreme interest in all kind of sports, I also have watched a lot of boxing in my time. Now I wonder what happens to the sport of boxing. Before I did not have to look up or search for any of the information I feel that I need (it really is needed for me).

I watched my boxing at Eurosprt on tv, and combined with the sports news I was always updated. Now I really have to look for my information and read special boxing news reports to stay updated. I do not know if this is common all over the globe, but in Norway boxing has disappeared. I know it’s not the lack of Norwegian Boxers cause they have not been involved in the top anyway, but I wonder if it has something to do with the eastern countries dominating the sport.

I have to say that I’m the kind of person that follows almost everything that happens in the world of sports without dedicating too much time for each and every niche. I mostly get my main information from, as said before, the news. I simply do not have the time to read every website and magazine to get all the detailed information.

Back to the sport of boxing. It seems to me that boxing more or less disappeared from the regular news when the Russians took the heavyweight titles. I remember when we had champions from the western countries and the build-up for the big title fights covered by everyone. Now I feel lucky if I get to know the result of a match for the heavyweight title.

To be honest, I hear more about Mike Tyson than I do about the Russian monster Valujev or the Klitsko brothers. What did happen? Did the western countries lose their interest of the sport? Do we need a new Mike Tyson or Evander Holyfield to wake the journalists again?

I remember the days when all the news hyped up the tension before a fight and it was like I needed to see the match to get the result as quick as possible. I could stay up all night waiting for the event that took place in a different timezone. Now they don’t even mention the result in the morning news anymore.

All I have to say is that I want boxing back in the spotlight. I know there are huge sports to compete with about the press coverage, but at least a few sentences. Maybe Don King slowed down on his hype now, but I believe we need more of it to get the people follow boxing again.
